You’d be surprised at how hard it it to roll a Toyota, they aren’t like shitty Jeeps which will roll in a mall parking lot as the driver make a routine turn (search “Jeep fail”).

That’s why most people who are serious about off roading buy a Jeep.

wouldnt u be better using toyota diesel? be easier.

  11. subasurf February 21, 2010 at 6:15 am #

@tpvalley The OM617 is widely regarded as the greatest most reliable diesel engine ever built. It is entirely mechanical and requires absolutely NO electricity to run. Great reliability is key for a 4WD…especially when going in the water.

toyota diesels share a similar bulletproof reputation and have same bhp ish. for all that effort u could have fitted a factory option, if going for a merc engine fit a mechanically injected 6 cylinder turbo charged one and get good power aswell or fit the 4.2 landcruiser diesel.

@uglysnotnosepunk Go back to the basement, son.

  17. flenny May 18, 2010 at 1:10 am #

@alphabooger why use a merc engine when u can directly bolt in a toy factory 1hz?

  18. alphabooger May 19, 2010 at 4:36 am #

@flenny i love diesels. but im still not sure wat to put and replace my 22r. i need something bullet proof. for right now my 22r is as bulletproof as they come.

  19. flenny May 19, 2010 at 10:21 pm #

@alphabooger the 1hz is as bullet proof as diesels come, toyota uses them in their medium duty trucks and buses like the coaster and in the land cruiser prado (lexus lx 470 in the US)…its a turbo 3 litre I6 which puts out way more torque than the 22r

  20. alphabooger May 20, 2010 at 12:55 am #

@flenny is there a website you know about that gves a discription of how much ill have to put into it.

  21. flenny May 20, 2010 at 1:52 pm #

@alphabooger sorry dont know any websites but its mainly mounting points that will be different so shouldnt be too difficult as long as u get engine and gearbox, btw my mistake…the 1kz-te is the 3litre turbo I6, the 1hz is the larger 4.2litre I6, still a durable engine

    yee muddin with open windows

  23. brunomanco July 20, 2010 at 8:45 am #

strange, the runners here come only with the 1kzt 3.0 diesel engine, wich is allready a great engine. u could go for that or the 4.1 15BFT from the work van. are u using the stock turbo? what about the gearing?

  24. jangleberrypie August 10, 2010 at 4:06 am #

@verasforzza Can you give me a link to a video like that?

  25. verasforzza August 10, 2010 at 7:46 am #

@jangleberrypie Search “Jeep Fail” it’s the 14th one down, the thumbnail is all gray, it’s a 12 second video

In fact just search for “Jeep fail” and browse, you’ll find tons of cases where a Jeep rolls where no other vehicle would have a problem
