This is a drag race at 2009 rocky mountain cummins truck fest between a newer ford excursion diesel powerstroke vs an older Ford f350 powerstroke 7.3 diesel with a steak bed they ran good the lifted excursion with a 16 second and the older ford steak bed with a 17 second lots of black smoke and a burn out

6.0 has more tech in the engine way better motor
no 6.0 sucks ive had 6.0s they always brake down
6.0 breaks down because of California emissions. Any time you put 1200 degree exhaust through 195 degree water cooler/filter, also known as Egr, things will break. Mine is an 04 with no problems BECAUSE the egr is deleted and I also have head studs. Spend 2 grand and save yourself 3 times that later. Great engine!!
look here, the 6.0 intially had more power, but the 7.3 is WAYYY more reliable. The reason? The engine was designed in Eourupe wich has low sulfer diesel, but the US has very high sulfer, and after about 150,000 miles, since the 6.0’s couldn’t handle it, the valves, etc locked up, got too gunky, etc…

@dodegeatsford it all has to do with the turbos! 6.0 spools up quicker the the old 7.3’s turbo

@redneckman454: There is NO way the 6.0 is better than the 7.3… Ask any ford mechanic or enthusiast and they will tell you that the 7.3 will outlast and out haul the 6.0 any day.
