    hey,
    nice truck
i have some questons, how many build hours was it to bring it to that level, and how much did it cost more or less?
How much gas does it use? like on a 100km/60miles/100miles base or how many miles or km do you get out of a gallon?

that sure sounds like a cummins 4bt. i didn’t think a volks could sound like that. must have a 3 or 4 inch straightpipe?

Outstanding! You were running Boggers in your “build” video… do you like the ag tires better? Do you ‘wheel it? If so, how does to power compare to the 22re? I also run dual ‘cases (2.28 & 4.7) on my solid axle ’93, I miss the horsepower on long, steep, and loose climbs in the woods when I need wheel-speed, but for the rocks, it’s perfect! Excellent build, and lets see some action vids of this incredible machine! Thumbs up.

  12. rides800 April 5, 2010 at 6:28 pm #

The Boggers were sold for funds before i got the truck running and knowing that i wasnt going to have alot of HP for wheelspin in mucky situations with this motor i knew the Ags would be the best setup. I dont think they are the best for rocks but then there are not too many rocky areas around here. I hate mud! and wanted to spend the least amount of time stuck in it. And ill buy another set of tires for different situations down thw road. im not married to these. But i like them ALOT. cont..

Id say you could definitely get more power from a built 22re than this motor. Again i was going for something different and am happy with the power its got. Its not powerful by any means and there lots of different options i could have gone with if that was my main concern but this was built to crawl and cruise leasurly. It gets out of the way well enough as you can see in this vid. this truck is also pretty light too. Gears gears gears.

@yako0000 yeah the sewer pipe stack sounds nice. Its 2.5″ from the turbo and 4″ up through the box.

I’m with ya’, the dual ‘cases are my favorite mod on my truck. The engine needs all the help it can get! It’s pushing 200k and frankly, I’m pretty hard on it. Either I am taking the quality and durability of the 22re for granted, or I am trying to end it’s life so I have an excuse to swap something else in, LOL. I have been leaning toward the efi Ford 5.0 H.O. swap, because of the hp-per-dollar ratio and ease of installation, but who knows… the diesel swap is cool! Well done.

  17. rides800 May 14, 2010 at 2:04 pm #

@subiemon Thx, Yeah sold the boggers for funds, and used the other set of fenders from the Runner. Looks better.

what kind of trans will bolt up to the tdi engine

  19. rides800 May 29, 2010 at 2:59 pm #

@sicolife Any trans as long as you have the adapter plate for it. this isnt a TDI.

  20. sicolife May 29, 2010 at 8:25 pm #

ok well your vw engine where do you get an adapter and does the trans have to be strong like can a trans form a gas engine work. Any ways the truck is sweet great video

  21. Pounderstoy June 2, 2010 at 10:57 pm #

I found a guy selling an adapter plate for a VW diesel to my W56 tranny in my 88 4runner. Would it be a wise choice for me to do this swap? Are you happy with it? Sorry for so many questions I am just not sure how it would be for street/ trail over my 22R.
    Thanks

  22. rides800 June 2, 2010 at 11:03 pm #

@Pounderstoy id say it wouldnt be a great choice for the street. Your gonna want to gear down either way. This engine turned up wont see more than 100 hp. It works for my truck because its light and its a trail only ride. No need for high speeds. I cant say for sure but if you were gonna try to maintain highway speeds up a grade with a mild load in your truck…your not gonna make it., or your gonna be cursing alot.

  23. Pounderstoy June 2, 2010 at 11:06 pm #

@rides800 Thanks for the info. I am currently right in the middle of a SAS with 4.88 gears and alot of other stuff.

  24. RADIOEDIT21 June 6, 2010 at 5:54 pm #

  25. pley92 June 15, 2010 at 7:31 pm #
