Red fuel is dyed red to show it was not "taxed". There is no "Road Use Tax" on some diesel fuel, and is dyed red in order to be able to detect it’s illegal use, and help deter people from trying to use it. It is for off road use, such as construction equipment, bulldozers, loaders, farm tractors, etc.
There is no operating difference. The "Red" fuel is exactly the same… except it’s dyed. I am not sure why they’d void the warranty on them… unless they required the Ultra-Low sulfur fuel… that was mandated on all diesel engines manufactured in and after 2007. It is different, but not sure if it would cause that kind of trouble.
Why were you running the Red fuel?
– Good Luck!
