My husband got diesel fuel on some of his clothes and then washed them and now, not only do the clothes still smell like diesel but, now, so does my washing machine. Can anyone suggest a way to get the smell out of my machine and the clothes?

We get that every so often in the laundromat where I work…
We spray pine sol and wipe out the washer then leave the door open to air out. Do a hot load of towels, and the smell is gone.
