    First things first get rid of that POS 6.2 and get you a 12v Cummins and install. Would be the best combo ever.

    whated that have in it before a 350

  13. josh216882000 June 19, 2010 at 1:28 pm #

    @bigbubba357m No id pass! Cummins engines are everywhere, and in everything. I wanted to build something unique, and how often do you here a detroit powered pickup truck screaming down the road?! Plus i gotta keep my running-gear mostly GM ;P

    @josh216882000 I can understand that.

    Quite the rat rod project here, especially with a Detroit 4L53 two-stroke in for the V8-6.2. Given the known narrow powerbands of those two-strokes, I wonder whether a Spicer ESO66-7 might have been more tolerable for the engine? Not enough wheelbase to throw in an AMO600-4D behind the Clark, more’s the pity.

    if i where to ever swap my stroke out it be for a detriot. i had a chance to get a 6v71T but i farted around and missed out i was going to put in my old 82 f350 reg cab then id so those cummins boys power at the diesel dynos

  23. fossilknife December 21, 2010 at 5:22 am #

    was the 6.2 detroit diesel a good one, i have the 6.5 detriot diesel and i love it

  24. josh216882000 December 22, 2010 at 11:52 pm #

    @fossilknife no it was junk… It would barely start in warm weather, never mind cold and snow. Glow plugs and a new starter later, it still started harder the cold than any diesel i know, so out the door it went. Ill never buy a truck with one again. Glad to hear you have good luck with your 6.5 though man!

    I really CAN’T believe the mess the truck was in beforehand, especially that super nasty wiring… Detroit power all the way baby, let ‘er rev!
