the perfect engine for a s-10 is a 65 hp kubota turbo diesel ! top speed aprox. 95 mph it will achieve around 50 mpg !!! full size pick ups need at least 80 – 100 hp engines, and will run over 100 mph , and get aprox. 35 to 40 mpg!! we built mercury capri ,that we commonly refer to as a mustang , will out run most v8 s with a four barrel, and still get aprox 50 mpg ! you dont have to use a farm tractor engine any industrial diesel engine would work fine !!!they are very dependable and get great milage call me if you have any questions !!! thank you gary c brown

@ mrdandy19 Shut up and stop putting non-sense in the comment section, if cummins was truely crap, then why is it used in more applications than duramax could ever imaine? Duramax makes good engines, but cummins has 3.9L thru 14+L, think before you type…
