This montage reminded me of how I miss seeing COE’s on the road, and how many sharp looking fleets have gone under! Would love to see a group shot of restored Freightliners for C/F, PIE, Time DC with your beautiful tractor!

really its a CO not a COE. COE means cabover extention which had a bump in the front. that is just a cab over. I do remember Carolina as well as many other trucking companys that are gone 🙁 and I do remember this one very beautiful good luck to you always with it.

I’m 44 years old and I have always only known them as Cab Over Engine’s therefore I rest my case on the COE. That’s my story and I’m stickin to it! But Thanks for the positive note.

/the Internatonal C/O made in the late 70s and in the 80s were called just that. C/O’s But hey food for thought. Like here some more food for thought, Interstate systems, APA. AAA trucking, CF Consolidated Frightways, Preston 151 line, Pilot, St. Johnbury, Branch, Wagner, Union, Woosters motor fright, all gone.

    Nice vid.
I’m restoring a 1969 White Freight Liner COE and trying to find manuals for these trucks. I need the suspension info bad. I have what some old timer call a 4 leaf rear suspension. I need info on repair and upgrades if possible.

@MrRackensack – COE means “Cab Over Engine”. NOT extention as you mentioned. Look at any lititure for COE’s. It will say “COE” and not “CO”. I made my living for 28 years in a COE and the rest in a conventional before I retired 13 years ago.

  13. MrRackensack February 24, 2010 at 4:39 am #

If thats the case I stand corrected. However there is a thing called the CABOVER EXTENTION. That is the bump in front where the engine is NOT totally over the cab. GMC, Ford, Diamond T, as well as many others, made the cabover extentions. But ok COE is cab over engine. but it is easy to see why it is a mistaken.

@june201955 – The name White Freightliner was used only because Freightliner (which was made by CF for CF use only to begin with) had an agreement with White Motors to sell their truck through Whites dealerships. White had nothing to do with producing them, just the sales. Then Freighliner developed their own sales division so they dropped White in their truck name before they went to Volvo. Still a lot of people think that White Motors made Freightliners but the fact is they didn’t.

@MrRackensack – No problem. The ones your talking about were also know as “Bubble Nose” trucks 🙂

only adiment about it from what my grandfather told me when used to deliver milk with horses. There is also something called the cabover frontliners which were common in the 90s. J.B. Hunt had a bunch of Internationals like this White/GMC made few of them too. Pretty much after 2000 Cabover overs were gone.

this was the bust company a man could have drove for! these kids out here never got to drive for real companys, all the good ones are gone its a damn shame; good ol deregulation pushed us off the hiway @ and were replaced by sub standard companys
