    about now I would pay to own that thing, we have been getting hammered with snow, but that sounds like a gas powered snow blower not a diesel

    Yeah, the sound from the straight pipe drounds out he diesel knock now. If you watch the video from last year befor I put the turbo on you can really hear it.

    They are driven through the factory ariens 4 speed

    i would pay for one of those. i need to get ahold of one of those yanmars. i worked at a tractor shop before, right before i left to alaska there cubcadet joined with yanmar. ill call them up to see what i can get a 10hp yanmar for.

    Dig around online. There is a few manufactures that make cylinder air cooled diesels. Hatz, Lombardini, Yanmar, and Kohler come to mind. They are quite spendy though, I was luck enough to get mine for free. Needed a cylinder head.

    in high school shop class for final exam i took a kx 250 motor and put it on a ariens , 2nd gear it thru the snow a country mile ,the shop teacher tried it and couldnt stop laughing , then he bought from me.

    the smell of diesel is pretty bad. if you are doing lots of houses you may get sick of the smell.

    I would focus on improving traction before I tinkered with the motor any more. A headlight might be useful too.
